We had a great time last week at the Insight 2023 conference in Las Vegas! This event brought together key players to discuss and explore the latest advancements, industry trends, and upcoming opportunities. While attending sessions and chatting with other attendees, we noticed a few key themes popping up in conversation. We’re sharing our recap and POV here.
Key Themes:
Trimble’s Commitment to Integration:
Trimble is focusing on creating an open platform that facilitates seamless integration with other industry technologies including other TMS platforms. Trimble Transportation Cloud (TTC) is set to be a game-changer, offering APIs to consolidate various platforms, providing opportunities for third-party tech integration. However, the adoption of TTC will take time as customers upgrade.
Industry Trends:
The industry is currently grappling with a challenging phase, with carriers striving to weather the trough. Full-truckload (FTL) rates have bottomed out, and there’s an expectation for rates to gradually increase in the next few quarters.
Implementing new technology:
- Trimble’s emphasis on an open platform promoting integration and interoperability.
- There was significant discussion about leveraging AI and effectively utilizing the vast amount of data available to make informed decisions.
Configurable Workflows
Trimble's data shift to TTC is focusing on data accessibility across the suite of Trimble applications. By creating a digital twin of the shipment in the cloud, users across applications can interact with the shipment and have the most recent information without toggling between their multiple applications. This will also enable customers to use the software of their choice while maintaining a shipment’s data integrity across applications.
All in all, Insight 2023 was a very worthwhile event, offering a glimpse into the evolving transportation and logistics landscape. The event provided valuable insights, fostering connections and opportunities that will shape the future of the industry.
